Why travelers love it

“Luxury All-Inclusive Cabo Escape”

Guests praise the tranquil adults‑only design, exceptional service, and dramatic Sea of Cortez views from nearly every room and infinity pool.

Best for couplesBest for romantic escapesBest for quiet luxury

Food & drink

Strong

Dining is a genuine highlight, with standouts like the French wine-pairing at Canto del Mar, Pergola's taco bar, and Sakke keeping repeat visitors coming back. Expect uneven moments: one breakfast venue that fills fast, a shaky Italian outlet, and reservations that must be locked in early.

Dining overview

Five restaurants plus a coffee shop and 24-hour in-suite dining, anchored by the buffet at Vista Ballenas, poolside seafood at Dos Mares, Italian at Pergola, teppanyaki at Sakke, and the upscale French tasting menu at Canto del Mar (which carries a surcharge). Reservations book up fast, so plan dinners early in your stay.

Beach

Mixed

The beach is scenic and well-kept but not swimmable, with rough surf typical of the San Jose corridor. Walk about 15 minutes toward the Hilton for a protected swimming cove.

Editorial beach rating

Like most beaches along the Cabo corridor, the stretch in front of Marquis is wide and dramatic but not swimmable due to strong currents and rough surf. Sand is coarser than the powder you'd find in the Caribbean, and the beach is best used for long walks and sunset views rather than ocean swimming.

Pools

Strong

Multiple pools including a standout infinity pool with ocean views, plus attentive servers hustling drinks and snacks all day. The catch: chair-hogging goes unchecked, so early risers win the best spots.

Editorial pool rating

Three beachfront infinity pools with ocean views and ample waitstaff service (no swim‑up bar).

What’s included

Strong

Most guests feel they get what they pay for, especially couples celebrating milestones who value the service and calm. A few sting on upcharges, casita upgrades that inflated on arrival, and specialty dinners billed on top.

Package inclusions and upgrade access have not been collected yet. Confirm them for your room and dates when booking.

Amenities & activities

Couples

Ideal

This is a couples' resort in spirit and clientele, packed with anniversaries, 40th birthdays, honeymoons, and vow renewals. Personalized touches from chefs and entertainment staff make milestone trips feel genuinely celebratory.

Families

Not a fit

Adults-only property, so no one under 18. Not built for kids in any form.

Peace & Quiet

Standout

Calm, serene, and deliberately low-key: think crashing waves as your soundtrack, not thumping DJ sets. Entertainment wraps by 10pm most nights, which is exactly why milestone travelers pick it over the Cabo San Lucas party strip.

Includes spa, fitness center, tennis/pickle ball courts, concierge, beauty salon, laundry/dry‑cleaning, parking, doctor on call, gift shop, and event/wedding facilities.

“Without a doubt, it's a wonderful place to relax, and the pool is beautiful, one of the best I've seen.”

“⭐☆☆☆☆ Extremely Disappointing — Nowhere Near a 5-Star Resort Calling Marquis Los Cabos a 5-star resort is, in our opinion, extremely generous. Based on our experience, even a 4-star rating would be difficult to justify. This was hands down one of the worst resort experiences we have had, especially considering the premium price we paid. We saw a lot of videos and positive reviews, but our actual experience was far from it. Unfortunately, the problems started on day one and continued...”

“Despite my repeated attempts to contact Liliana Rivera, the hotel’s manager, I have never received a personal phone call, meaningful follow-up, or even a simple message expressing concern for our well-being. My calls repeatedly went unanswered, and I was unable to speak with her directly. For someone holding a management position, this lack of communication and concern for guests who experienced such a serious medical emergency is deeply disappointing and unprofessional. Rather than...”

“Sharing my experience to warn others!! At my stay at San Marquis in June of 2026 for my 21st birthday, I got severely ill from their food. The resort served me food contaminated with salmonella my first day which resulted me in vomitting every single day I was there. I was bound to my bed as my stomach continued to hurt and I couldn’t keep any food in my system. When I got back to the US, I was admitted to the Emergency room where my kidneys nearly failed due to lack of liquids. My stay at...”

What you should know

What to Know

Book restaurant reservations immediately at check-in or the first night defaults to bar snacks. Confirm your booking type carefully: Casita upgrades, holiday prix-fixe menus, and Uber pickup logistics all carry surprises.

WATCH OUT: Seasonal heads-up

  • Hurricane season runs June through November, with peak risk in September
  • Mosquitoes and flies can flare up after summer rains
  • Pacific-side swells make ocean swimming unsafe year-round at this stretch of coast

SJD airport is roughly a 20-minute drive — closer than Cabo San Lucas hotels. Book specialty restaurants the moment you arrive, since the small property fills its dining slots quickly and there's no walk-up buffet at dinner. Tipping isn't required in the all-inclusive rate but is appreciated, and the Canto del Mar tasting menu carries an extra fee that not every guest finds worth it. Watch for surprise 'resort credit' offers at checkout that may actually be charges.

Good to know

  • Every room is ocean-facing, but the beach is for walking only — not swimming
  • Highway noise from the Transpeninsular is audible from some rooms
  • Book specialty dinner reservations immediately at check-in; there's no walk-up buffet at night
  • Canto del Mar (French) carries an additional surcharge despite the all-inclusive plan
  • Chair-saving at the pools is a known issue — arrive early for a prime spot
  • Entertainment is mellow and typically ends by 10pm
